Nearly 900 officers from different police forces, including the BRIMO and the ARRO, were deployed simultaneously across eight key cities: L’Hospitalet, Barcelona, Esplugues, El Prat, Cornellà, Sant Adrià, Badalona, and Santa Coloma. The operation is supported by a helicopter, port police, private security, and Labor Inspection technicians.
In L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, the action focuses on neighborhoods such as Nord, Pubilla Cases, Florida, Les Planes, and Collblanc-la Torrassa, involving about 90 agents. Tasks include inspections and searches of premises, shops, and bars, checking for public safety compliance and administrative regulations.
The main objective is to act against potential drug flats (narcopisos), conduct scooter controls, identify individuals for possession of drugs or bladed weapons, and arrest multi-reoffending criminals. The operation, which began at 3 PM, will extend into the early morning, focusing then on nightlife venues.
This marks the ninth time the Kanpai operation has been deployed in the metropolitan area. On this occasion, about thirty officers from the Tarragona Urban Crime group joined the deployment to learn about its organization in Barcelona.
This police plan against repeat offenders was launched in April 2025 in the Barcelona metropolitan area and has gradually expanded to other municipalities, as well as the Barcelona metro system and the airports of El Prat and Girona.
