The play Boja, created and performed by Mariona Esplugues, marks the start of the season's programming at the Teatre de l'Aurora in Barcelona. This autofiction monologue recounts sixteen years of psychiatric consultations, raising the central question that has accompanied the author throughout her life.
What is wrong with me? What is wrong with me?
This is a brave and honest monologue that combines humor, irony, and emotion to explore the search for self-identity, the meaning of life, and the limits of normality. Using an intimate stage language, Mariona Esplugues connects with the audience, reflecting on self-acceptance, emotional education, and mental health.
The show has received unanimous critical acclaim and was honored with the Best Revelation Performance Award for Mariona Esplugues at the Premis Teatre Barcelona. It also won the Best Show for Young People Award at the Mostra Igualada 2025.
Performances of Boja will take place on Friday, January 9, and Saturday, January 10, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, January 11, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online and at the Teatre de l'Aurora box office.
