After several days with exceptionally high thermal values for the season, even exceeding 30 ºC in the west and 25 ºC in Barcelona during Friday and Saturday, the warm weather will give way to a drastic change. This Saturday, April 12, 2026, high temperatures will still persist, especially on the coast, although clouds will increase and suspended dust will make the sky appear murky and reddish-brown.
The meteorological shift will become evident on Sunday, April 13, 2026, with the arrival of a front associated with a low-pressure system originating from the United Kingdom. Weak to moderate rains are expected to advance from the west towards the coast, affecting a large part of Catalonia. In Barcelona, the probability of rain will be higher from midday and will intensify during the afternoon and into Monday morning.
This change in air masses will cause an abrupt drop in maximum temperatures. Inland and in the Pyrenees, the decrease could exceed 10 ºC compared to Saturday's values, while on the coast the drop will be notable, making it difficult to reach 20 ºC. Although intense cold is not expected, temperatures will return to values more typical of April.
However, this relative coolness will be short-lived. From Monday, April 14, 2026, the sun will return, and temperatures will begin a new gradual ascent throughout the week, without reaching this week's extremes. Nights may remain cooler for a few more days, but daytime mildness and warm weather will quickly reappear by the middle of next week.
