The new 24-hour forensic guard service dedicated to sexual violence victims in L'Hospitalet and Barcelona handled 661 procedures in its first year, registering a 10% increase in L'Hospitalet.
Since its implementation one year ago, the specialized forensic service has registered 98 cases in L'Hospitalet, exceeding the 89 cases from the previous year. This 10% increase is part of a total of 661 global procedures between the two cities, with 563 cases attended in Barcelona.

"Immediacy and early sample collection are guaranteed, where the professional has a dedicated space for the victim and to take samples in a mitigated manner appropriate to the injuries."
The improvement of the service is due to one of the two forensic doctors on call being dedicated exclusively to these cases, facilitating more immediate and specialized attention. The victims attended are mostly women, with an average age of 28, and it is noted that 1 in 11 have suffered multiple aggressions.

"We perform an examination with an on-call gynecologist and try not to re-victimize the victim further. The hospital service prepares its clinical report and we prepare an expert report."
The service is activated by judicial order when the victim goes to a hospital center. In L'Hospitalet, the reference centers are the Hospital de Bellvitge and the Hospital General. Furthermore, a change in the seasonality of the cases has been observed; they are now distributed throughout the year, with a higher incidence on weekends.
