Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has announced an increase in the frequency of metro lines 1 and 5, with the addition of an extra train to each line during morning peak hours, starting tomorrow, April 7, 2026.

This initiative, which will be implemented between 7:00 AM and 9:30 AM, will allow Line 1 to reach 35 trains in circulation and Line 5 to reach 38. The goal is to optimize service and reduce waiting times for users.
According to a statement issued by TMB, the frequency of service on Line 5 will be reduced to less than two and a half minutes, while on Line 1 it will approach three minutes. This improvement aims to alleviate congestion during one of the busiest times for passengers.

"We have worked intensely to put the two additional trains into operation, coinciding with the return to school after Easter."
