15-year-old teenager shot dead in Barcelona park

A young person of Latin origin has died after being shot twice in Pegaso park, in what appears to be a gang confrontation.

A 15-year-old teenager was shot dead on Friday night in Barcelona's Pegaso park, in the Sagrera neighborhood, in an incident that the Mossos d’Esquadra are investigating as a potential gang confrontation.

The incident occurred around 11:00 PM when a group of youths approached the teenager, who was in the park, and shot him twice. The attackers fled the scene quickly. Emergency services were unable to revive the boy.
Some witnesses alerted the 112 emergency number about a fight among youths in the area. According to initial information from the Mossos, evidence points towards clashes between organized gangs.
Police have launched a operation to locate and apprehend the assailants, who witnesses reported were also carrying a machete. The victim, of Latin origin, had been living in Spain for seven months and frequented Pegaso park, an area reportedly controlled by Latin gangs in Barcelona, according to investigation sources.
This incident marks the seventh fatal shooting victim in Catalunya in 2026, matching the total recorded throughout the previous year in just six months. To date, at least fifteen shootings have occurred in the region.
