Thousands of demonstrators called by the ANC and the Consell de la República protested in Barcelona on Saturday against the lack of investment in Rodalies, demanding independence as the only solution.

The demonstration, which took place on Saturday morning, started at the Rafael Casanova monument and culminated in Plaça Sant Jaume. Organizers estimated attendance at 30,000 people, while the Guàrdia Urbana counted 8,000. The central slogan of the protest was 'Prou! Única via, Independència', reflecting the denunciation of years of State disinvestment in the railway network.
During the route, common independence slogans such as 'Independència', '1 d'Octubre, ni oblit ni perdó', and 'Urquinaona ho tornarem a fer' were heard. A moment of tension occurred when passing the National Police station on Via Laietana, where loud whistles and shouts of 'Out with the occupation forces' were heard, and a Spanish flag was burned.

"We are tired of being daily hostages of a failed system. It cannot be that every day we wake up and this is Russian roulette."

Laura Pelay · Deputy Secretary General of ERC
The protest received support, despite criticism of the Government's management, from parties such as Junts, ERC, CUP, and Aliança Catalana. Leaders like Jordi Turull (Junts) and Laura Pelay (ERC) demanded the resignation of both the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, and the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, due to the Rodalies crisis.
This was the first of two mobilizations scheduled for Saturday in Barcelona. The second, called in the afternoon by user platforms, was criticized by the organizers of the morning march, who accused the platforms of "counter-programming" their action.
