The Barcelona City Council will begin issuing 90-euro fines to unauthorized vehicles driving up Via Laietana starting April 27, using a new automatic camera system.

Following the street's renovation, access in the uphill direction is now restricted to prioritize public transport and local residents. Starting this Monday, March 23, citizens can apply for access permits online, via the 010 phone line, or at municipal offices.
The restrictions apply to the Ciutat Vella district, specifically affecting the Gòtic, Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera, and Barceloneta neighborhoods. Authorized vehicles include public buses (lines V15, 47, and 120), taxis, emergency services, and registered residents.
Parking users, hotel guests, and delivery vehicles also have specific access rights. The city has launched an information period to ensure the public understands the new mobility rules before the enforcement phase begins in late April.
