Barcelona City Council will launch a 22 million euro initiative in the second quarter of 2026 to revitalize Paral·lel Avenue, focusing on cultural, economic, and urban improvements across three city districts.

The plan, titled Millorem el Paral·lel, aims to establish a unified Paral·lel brand to promote the area's unique identity. Councillor Raquel Gil announced that the project will include 22 specific actions to be completed by 2028, impacting the Poble-sec, Raval, and Sant Antoni neighborhoods.

"We must create a quality brand. We have two great sectors, gastronomy and performing arts, and we must take advantage of them."

Manuel Tort Roca · President of the Poble-sec Paral·lel Traders Association
Key milestones include the 2027 reopening of the historic Teatre Arnau and the transformation of the Tres Xemeneies (Three Chimneys) into a business hub and emergency coordination center. Urban upgrades will receive 11.6 million euros for street lighting and the renovation of public squares like Bella Dorita.
The avenue will also play a central role in Barcelona's major festivals, such as Sant Jordi and La Mercè. In 2026, coinciding with the city's status as the European Capital of Christmas, the street will feature a new historical-themed lighting project.
