Barceloneta Park now boasts a new 64-meter mural showcasing neighborhood pets, created by artist Carola Bagnato with participation from local students and residents.

The dog park in Barceloneta has been revitalized with a 64-meter long mural depicting some of the neighborhood's companion animals. The painting, filled with diverse colors, motifs, and shapes, is the work of artist Carola Bagnato.
The creation of this artwork involved the Association of Neighbors of Barceloneta and three local educational centers: Escola Mediterrània, Escola Alexandre Galí, and Institut Joan Salvat-Papasseit.
The co-creation process engaged approximately 150 people, including students, residents, and the artist's technical team. Carola Bagnato emphasized the importance of reaching a consensus between neighbors and children to integrate various proposals into the final design.
The artist began the design after selecting elements, scaling it up to life-size, and drawing it, with active participation from students in the painting process. "It was wonderful to see their concentration," Bagnato added.
The theme selection, focusing on dogs, naturally emerged from the space itself. "As neighbors arrived at the park, I took photos of their pets to capture them… This mural is a tribute to the neighborhood," the artist explained.
This project is part of the Architecture Capital year and is included in the Volta festival, which this year dedicates its edition to urban art as a tool for social integration and reflection.
