Barcelona holds minute of silence for Adamuz rail disaster victims

Catalan government and city council representatives pay tribute to the 39 fatalities caused by the train accident in Córdoba.

The interim President of the Govern, Albert Dalmau, and the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, led the minute of silence in Plaça Sant Jaume on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Consellers of the Generalitat and councillors of the Barcelona City Council gathered in Plaça Sant Jaume at noon to pay tribute to the 39 fatalities resulting from the railway accident in Adamuz (Córdoba).
The ceremony, held in the rain, was attended by the interim President of the Govern, Albert Dalmau, and the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, along with other institutional representatives.

"From the Govern, we extend our most sincere condolences for this tragic accident and offer all our support, if necessary, to the Junta de Andalucía and the Government of Spain."

Separately, the President of the Parliament, Josep Rull, called for another minute of silence in front of the Chamber with parliamentary groups, who suspended their regular press conferences.
The disaster, which occurred on Sunday in Adamuz following the derailment of an Iryo train, has resulted in at least 39 deaths and 152 injuries, including 5 critically injured.
