Catalan Civil Protection authorities activated the Ventcat emergency plan this Wednesday in Barcelona and Anoia following forecasts of strong wind gusts that could exceed twenty meters per second throughout the day.

According to the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya, the episode of intense winds has forced the activation of the Special Emergency Plan for Wind Risk in Catalonia. Forecasts indicate that maximum gusts could exceed 20 meters per second, especially affecting the coastal and pre-coastal areas of Barcelona.
In the Anoia region, the wind danger is considered especially high between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM this Wednesday, the 11th. For the rest of the day, the alert level will remain moderate, although authorities advise staying vigilant.
Given this situation, Civil Protection recommends that citizens exercise extreme caution when traveling and inside their homes. Key measures include folding awnings, closing doors and windows, and removing any objects from balconies or terraces that could fall onto public streets.
Furthermore, authorities call for caution regarding urban furniture, trees, construction cranes, and parked vehicles. The meteorological episode could last until Thursday, when the wind intensity is expected to gradually decrease across the territory.
