With the screening of the documentary Castells: Patrimoni Viu, produced by Rafa Lanús and Mariella Pisciotta of Reality Telling, the 44th-anniversary celebrations for the Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls have begun. This 360º virtual reality documentary followed the 'colla' (human tower group) during rehearsals and the Santa Úrsula festival, capturing the essence of 'castells' and their values such as teamwork, personal achievement, and community spirit.
The production serves a therapeutic and social purpose, creating a tool designed for individuals with long-term hospitalizations and residents in care centers, aiming to foster a spirit of self-improvement and trust in the collective.
The event schedule continues this Friday the 12th with a year-end concert by the young 'grallers' and 'timbalers' at 6:30 PM, followed by a general rehearsal for the 'colla' at 10:15 PM. On Saturday the 13th, at 12:00 PM, the personal archive of Lluís Lirón will be donated to the 'colla' for digitization and preservation.
During Saturday's event, the new website for the Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls will also be unveiled. This platform includes the digitization of the historical archive, a detailed database of all their 'castells' with statistics and audiovisual material, and an artificial intelligence system to answer inquiries about the 'colla's' history.
The day will culminate at 5:30 PM in the Plaça del Pati with the 44th-anniversary 'Diada Castellera' (human tower festival), featuring the participation of Moixiganguers d'Igualada, Castellers de Barcelona, Castellers de Sants, Minyons de Terrassa, and the Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls itself. Afterwards, a popular dinner will be held, followed by music with 'ball de gralles' and a party with Allioli and DJ La Perla Negra.
