With 195 confirmed cases of the virus in Catalonia, the Department of Agriculture has intensified efforts near urban areas. The strategy focuses on the Pig Brig trap system, a high-capacity netting method from the US designed to capture entire family groups at once.
The operation also includes night patrols using silencers and thermal imaging drones to track animal movements. Hunting dogs are strictly prohibited to prevent boars from scattering beyond the containment zone, which could endanger the regional livestock economy.
