The conflict in the Middle East has triggered an unstoppable rise in fuel prices across Catalonia, with conventional diesel reaching 1.84 euros per liter this Sunday.

Diesel prices have surged by 41 cents (approximately 30%) since hostilities began involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. For the first time in three years, diesel is now more expensive than 95 octane gasoline.
In Barcelona, some stations such as the one in Plaça Eivissa have reported prices as high as 2.18 euros per liter. Other locations including Castellbisbal and Ripoll have also seen prices cross the two-euro threshold.

"The costs are unbearable and lead us to another year of considerable losses."

The agricultural sector is heavily impacted, with agricultural diesel rising by 33%. Farmers' unions like Unió de Pagesos are calling for urgent government intervention, including VAT reductions, to mitigate the effects of rising energy and fertilizer costs.
