The El Cau children's school in Barcelona has reopened its doors in the Hostafrancs neighborhood nearly a year after its abrupt closure, while about twenty families are still awaiting the reimbursement of fees paid in February 2025.
The closure of the El Cau nursery school, which affected nearly 70 families, occurred suddenly in February 2025. After being evicted due to accumulated non-payments since the pandemic, the management managed to renegotiate the lease and reopen the following June in the same premises on Vilardell Street.

"As of today, we still have not received any clear explanation or the refund of the money owed to us."
According to those affected, the twenty families still awaiting reimbursement are claiming between 280 and 300 euros each. Some parents have contacted the Municipal Consumer Information Office (OMIC) for assistance, although no collective complaint has been filed.

"They are four families outraged over 200 or 300 euros, which they will be paid. A year has passed. Let us work and not harm us. Otherwise, they will not be able to collect."
The director of the center, Raquel Cruz, regrets the situation and assures that her priority is to continue with the project, stating that they are paying “little by little as we can.” However, some parents, like Marta, criticize the lack of communication and the reopening without having settled the outstanding debts.
