The head of ERC in Barcelona City Council, Elisenda Alamany, has been elected as the party's candidate for the 2027 municipal elections following a primary vote held this Friday.

Elisenda Alamany received 415 votes (72.8%) in an electronic ballot where she was the sole candidate. The process was notable for the 155 blank votes cast, representing over 27% of the total, following a call for protest from internal sectors.

"There are no clear guarantees that, in the future, a government agreement with the PSC will not be proposed again."

The Primer d'Octubre Collective led the opposition, citing concerns over Elisenda Alamany's willingness to form alliances with the PSC. Critics argue this strategy compromises ERC's political profile in Barcelona. The official proclamation will take place this Saturday, February 28.
