The sixth edition of the Sustainable Food Festival will take place from September 25th to 27th in Parc de la Ciutadella. The event, organized by the Ajuntament de Barcelona in collaboration with the Associació de Gastronomia i Turisme del Baix Llobregat and Slow Food Barcelona, promotes conscious eating, with quality offerings that value local products, their producers, and care for the planet.
The gastronomic area will feature up to twenty-eight dishes and drinks made with organic, local, and seasonal products, demonstrating that the pleasure of good food and environmental care can go hand in hand. Half of the offerings will be vegetarian.
Fourteen restaurants will participate, including Aguaribay, Bar El Pepino, Bar Súper, Bistrot Levante, Casa Xica, El Brot LH, El Filete Ruso, Espai Puntal, Fat Veggies, GastroGaratxe, Mescladís, Mosquito, Teòric Taverna Gastronòmica, and Uniko, representing Shanghai, this year's guest city for the Mercè festivities. The beverage selection includes craft beers from local producers curated by the Barcelona Beer Festival, natural wines, and organic kombucha. There will also be seasonal artisan ice creams from Delacrem and specialty coffees from The Milk & Coffe.
Six small local producers will also be present, offering organic fruits, vegetables, fermented products, chocolates, cheeses, bread, oil, honey, and preserves.
The Cooking Classroom, linked to Barcelona's European Capital of Local Commerce 2026 designation, will host showcookings, workshops, and talks on sustainable food. Chefs such as Rafa Peña, Wenbin Peng, and Artur Martínez are highlighted. Activities will also include workshops on responsible consumption, organic farming, and food waste prevention, organized by entities like Agròpolis and the Barcelona Healthy and Sustainable Food Strategy 2030 (EASSB2030).
Music will have a prominent space with concerts throughout the day, featuring proposals ranging from folk to roots rhythms, including performances by Los Azucarillo Kings, Marco de Ana, Sorvina, Tumbakin, and Giulia Valle.
The festival promotes local agriculture, land conservation, the local economy, and waste reduction, aligning with the Barcelona Healthy and Sustainable Food Strategy 2030. Collaboration with Mescladís reinforces its commitment to social cohesion.
