The Plataforma pel Transport Públic (PTP) has urged the immediate implementation of solutions to improve the entry and exit of approximately 30 interurban bus lines connecting various Catalan regions via Barcelona's Diagonal.

The organization has highlighted the saturation of existing stops along the Diagonal up to Francesc Macià, where large crowds of passengers accumulate on sidewalks, leading to long boarding and alighting times, and bus queues. Therefore, the PTP proposes that all stops be doubled, noting that currently only the Maria Cristina stop is.

"All stops could be doubled tomorrow because there are no physical elements obstructing it: it's only necessary to paint the sign and install stop poles."

Conversely, the PTP has criticized that the Barcelona City Council installed four shelters some time ago to prevent bus concentration, but currently no lines stop at them. According to the association, the council ordered the spaces, but the Generalitat de Catalunya, responsible for managing bus operators, has not coordinated the use of these new infrastructures.
The most illustrative case, according to the entity, is that of Zona Universitària, where, in the direction out of the city, one shelter concentrates all lines, while two others, a few meters away, remain empty. The PTP emphasizes that, at this point, where six buses could stop simultaneously, only one does.
Although the Barcelona City Council has announced projects to organize about twenty stops between next year and 2028, the PTP demands faster action. The association also calls for the existing double bus lane between Francesc Macià and Numància to be extended to Pius XII and Maria Cristina, areas with greater bus accumulation.
Furthermore, the PTP proposes the creation of two interchange zones, one at Maria Cristina and another at Zona Universitària, with general maps indicating the location of each line. Finally, they request the installation of comfortable waiting areas with seating, shade, and real-time information, aspects that the council already contemplates in its stop dignification plan.
