The Fundació Reeixida has reported the discovery of the original marble sign for Vicenç Albert Ballester square in Barcelona on the Wallapop marketplace, eight years after it vanished during demolition works.

The listing, which has since been removed, offered the historical plaque for 70 euros. The sign honors Ballester as the creator of the Catalan estelada flag. It was originally located at the intersection of Passeig Lluís Companys and Carrer Comerç in the Ciutat Vella district.
Installed in 2014 during Xavier Trias's term as mayor, the plaque disappeared in 2018 when the old court buildings were demolished. Despite inquiries to the Barcelona City Council at the time, the location of the sign remained a mystery until a citizen spotted it online.

"What we want is for this plaque, which is a matter of memory, to be in its rightful place, like any plaque for anyone who deserves it in Barcelona."

Oriol Falguera · President of Fundació Reeixida
The foundation has called on Mayor Jaume Collboni to recover and restore the sign. The site is currently undergoing archaeological excavation following the discovery of an ancient necropolis, delaying the construction of the new Barcelona Audience building.
