Thirty neighborhood groups presented the Coordinadora en Defensa del Patrimoni Verd this Friday at the Antic Teatre, a new alliance dedicated to protecting Barcelona's green lungs.

The coalition aims to challenge municipal inaction and private interests that threaten the city's natural and cultural heritage. By uniting thirty different collectives, the platform seeks to gain leverage in negotiations with the Barcelona City Council to preserve essential urban nature spots.

"We have united to become stronger against public and private institutions and to promote initiatives that protect urban green spaces."

The group includes long-standing activist organizations such as Defensem Can Raventós and Salvem el Patrimoni. Their goals extend to the Collserola Natural Park and promoting urban biodiversity projects to improve public health and well-being in high-density areas.

"We decided we had to unite against institutions that do not represent us and want to damage these spaces."
