These subsidies, published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya (DOGC), primarily aim to prevent the risk of social exclusion and ensure that people can maintain their habitual residence, provided they meet the established conditions.
To qualify for this aid, annual family income cannot exceed 36,279.32 euros, a figure representing up to four times the sufficiency income indicator for Catalonia. This measure was agreed upon between the PSC and the Comuns. The budget allocated for this call has been increased by 106 million euros compared to the previous one, with the forecast of extending coverage to an additional 40,000 families.
The maximum rental prices to be eligible for aid vary by geographical area. In the city of Barcelona and the counties of Baix Llobregat, Barcelonès, Garraf, Maresme, Vallès Occidental, and Vallès Oriental, the cap increases from 900 to 1,000 euros per month for housing and 450 euros for a room. In the rest of the Barcelona demarcation, the limit rises from 650 to 750 euros for housing and 350 euros for a room.
In the Girona demarcation, the cap remains at 750 euros for housing and 400 euros for a room. For the Tarragona demarcation, it is set at 700 euros for housing and 350 euros for a room. Finally, in the Lleida demarcation and the Terres de l'Ebre, the limits remain at 600 euros for housing and 300 euros for a room.
The aid amount is increased for large families, single-parent families, or those with a recognized disability and a favorable mobility assessment. In these cases, the maximum agreed amount is 1,100 euros in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (which includes Baix Llobregat, Barcelonès, Garraf, Maresme, Vallès Occidental, and Vallès Oriental) and 900 euros in the rest of the territory.
The maximum subsidy that can be received is 200 euros per month, with a minimum of 50 euros, 30 euros more than in the previous call. The final amount is adjusted based on the economic effort represented by rent payment for each applicant, according to their income.
All applications can be processed electronically through the Generalitat de Catalunya Procedures website, or in person at the offices specified in the call. It should be noted that April 30 also marks the deadline for rental aid intended for individuals over 65 years of age.
