President Salvador Illa inaugurated the new Medical Emergency System (SEM) headquarters in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat this February 18, marking a significant upgrade for Catalonia's healthcare infrastructure.

The project represents a 60 million euro investment, with 50 million provided by European FEDER funds. The facility is located in the Granvia biomedical cluster and will house over 700 professionals working in coordination, logistics, and training.

Spanning 22,500 square meters, the site includes the Health Coordination Center, which manages approximately 7,600 daily alerts. The sustainable building features redundant servers to ensure uninterrupted service for the 061 emergency line.
