The Barcelona City Council will reopen the outbound tube of the Rovira Tunnel this Monday, March 2, 2026, restoring regular traffic flow towards the northern districts.

The 1,300-meter long urban tunnel has been undergoing extensive repairs since October. Until now, northbound traffic was diverted through the opposite tube, a temporary measure that ends with the completion of this phase.
With a total investment of 20.7 million euros, the project focused on updating safety systems and modernizing the infrastructure, which has been in operation for forty years.

"The renovated tunnel will allow for real-time incident management and will incorporate safety improvements in a forty-year-old infrastructure."

Laia Bonet · First Deputy Mayor
While northbound traffic returns to normal, the southbound tube towards the city center will remain closed for a few more weeks. Nighttime closures are expected to continue for several months to finalize system programming.
