Sandra Pérez was 21 years old when she flew to Sweden to pursue a master's degree in digital business. Five years later, she has built a stable life in Jönköping, where she lives with her partner and has no plans to return to Barcelona.
“"Sweden might not be my final country, but Spain is not it."
One of the main drivers for her stay is the housing market. Pérez notes that in Sweden, she can afford to rent an apartment on her own while maintaining a balanced lifestyle, a feat she deems impossible in Barcelona given the current real estate crisis.
Safety also plays a crucial role in her decision. Pérez highlights the peace of mind she feels walking home alone at night in Jönköping, something she lacked in her original neighborhood. Despite the dark winters, the autonomy and quality of life she has found are paramount.
“"I live more peacefully here."
