At least 61 people were injured this Thursday in Catalonia due to severe gale-force winds, leading to the suspension of all educational, sporting, and non-urgent healthcare activities.

The weather event, described as first-class by the Meteorological Service of Catalonia, resulted in 23 hospitalizations. Serious incidents occurred in Sant Boi de Llobregat due to a fallen tree and in Sant Pau de Segúries. In l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, a woman was injured when part of a building collapsed onto her car.

"This is the first course of a top-tier wind event that will see a second peak on Saturday."
