The Telecogresca Cultural Association, led by Bruno van Bemmelen, has warned that the 250% increase in the cost of leasing the Parc del Fòrum by the Barcelona City Council endangers the continuity of the university festival.

Telecogresca, an annual festival aimed at university audiences that gathered 15,000 people in the 2025 edition, is scheduled to be held on March 28 at the Parc del Fòrum. However, the organization has reported that the 250% increase in the cost of leasing the space forces them to assume between 3 and 3.5 euros more per ticket sold.
The president of the entity, Bruno van Bemmelen, lamented that this price hike, applied by the Barcelona City Council, means applying commercial macro-festival criteria to an organization based on volunteering and operating on a non-profit basis.

"Commercial macro-festival criteria are being applied to an entity formed by volunteers and operating on a non-profit basis."

This critical financial situation, which was already experienced last year, threatens the celebration of future editions and, especially, the festival's 50th anniversary, scheduled for 2028. The entity has requested greater institutional support from the council, as they cannot access most existing subsidies, which are designed for large companies.
The organization argues that Telecogresca is held outside the high season for musical events and that its impact on the Besòs i el Maresme neighborhood is minimal compared to the large events organized there. Last year, the festival already warned about the risks derived from the new Parc del Fòrum Festival Plan 2026-2028.
