Teachers in Barcelona and the Baix Llobregat area began a week of strikes this Monday, with 30% of staff participating according to the Department of Education.

The protest started early in the morning with road blocks on major highways including the Ronda de Dalt and the A-2, causing traffic jams of up to 13 kilometers. Unions such as Ustec, Aspepc, and CGT are demanding better working conditions and a renegotiation of the recent deal signed between the Catalan Government and other major unions.

Enough is enough, labor improvements now. In education: more salary, more resources, lower ratios, less bureaucracy.

A central march took place in Barcelona, moving from Urquinaona Square to Sant Jaume Square. While official figures place turnout at 30%, the Ustec union claims participation reached 65%. The Mossos d'Esquadra police force monitored the situation, identifying several protesters during the morning road blocks.
