The event, which is part of the Sant Antoni Festive Cycle, will now be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026. This annual celebration commemorates the sanctification of Saint Anthony the Abbot, patron saint of animals, and dates back to 1826.
The day's activities will commence at 10:30 AM with the gathering of participants. At 10:45 AM, in front of the Escola Pia de Sant Antoni, a popular culture activist will deliver a proclamation, preceded by a performance from the Gegants de Sant Antoni, marking the start of the parade.
The route will include Avinguda del Paral·lel, Tamarit, Comte Borrell, and Parlament streets, Ronda de Sant Pau and Sant Antoni, Villarroel and Floridablanca streets, Plaça de la Universitat, Pelai street, La Rambla, Hospital, Sant Antoni Abat, and Manso streets, concluding at Plaça de Josep Puig i Cadafalch. At 11:00 AM, the traditional blessing of the animals will also take place in front of the Escola Pia.
This celebration is part of a month-long series of festivities held in various city neighborhoods, although the Tres Tombs de Sant Antoni had to be postponed from its original January date due to rain forecasts.
