Nema Health, a spin-off from the Universitat de Lleida and the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute, has traveled to Shanghai to attend the Mobile World Congress. The Catalan delegation, supported by Mobile World Capital Barcelona, includes other startups from the The Collider program. Nema Health specializes in developing personalized immunotherapy for cancer treatment, with a particular focus on advanced-stage melanoma.
Founded in 2024 by Olga Rué alongside scientists Marta Corral, Joan Verdaguer, and Jordi Barquinero, the biotech company is headquartered in Lleida. Other Catalan firms present at the event include Pharmacelera, Cooling Photonics, and OneCareAi, all of which were also accelerated by The Collider. These companies have dedicated spaces within the MWCapital stand to showcase their technological innovations and engage with international investors and industry leaders.
In parallel, Mobile World Capital Barcelona, in collaboration with the Barcelona City Council and ACCIÓ of the Generalitat de Catalunya, organized the session "Barcelona & Catalonia as a Gateway for Innovation and Growth". This initiative aims to attract Chinese companies interested in establishing a presence in Catalonia, highlighting the region as a hub for technology and innovation with a robust business and research ecosystem.
Jordi Valls, a participant in the session, emphasized the 25-year twinning relationship between Shanghai and Barcelona, underscoring a shared commitment to innovation and sustainability. He highlighted Barcelona's role as a platform for progress and growth for international companies. Laia Corbella, CEO of MWCapital, noted the city's appeal in concentrating and connecting talent with an innovative business ecosystem, universities, and research centers, positioning Barcelona as a gateway to Europe.
