Woman dies from injuries caused by wind storm in Barcelona

The 46-year-old victim was hospitalized after a roof collapsed on her during the storm.

A 46-year-old woman died early this Friday in Barcelona after being critically injured during Storm Nils which hit Catalonia on Thursday.

The victim was being treated at Vall d'Hebron Hospital after part of an industrial warehouse roof collapsed on her due to high winds. Hospital sources confirmed she passed away due to the severity of her injuries. Eight other people remain hospitalized across the region, including one in critical condition.

Other serious incidents include a 22-year-old Civil Protection volunteer injured by a falling tree in Sant Boi de Llobregat and a 68-year-old man struck by a lamppost in Barcelona. A construction worker is also in serious condition in Girona.
Wind gusts exceeded 100 km/h in many areas, leading to over 3,400 emergency calls to the Fire Department. While mobility restrictions have been lifted, authorities continue to urge caution.
