The Mossos d’Esquadra arrested a 35-year-old British man on Sunday, December 21, in Sant Andreu for attempting to forcibly abduct a two-year-old boy from a local park.

The incident took place around 8 PM (20:00h) in the Sant Andreu park, when the individual approached the child and tried to take him away. The minor's older brother, aged 12, prevented the abduction by assaulting the man, who initially fled the scene.

The man has no criminal record in Spain, but he does have a history in the United Kingdom for sexual offenses involving minors and possession of a bladed weapon in a school setting.

Thanks to the quick description provided by witnesses, the man was located and arrested shortly after by the Mossos d’Esquadra on charges of attempted illegal detention.
After appearing before a judge, the duty court decided to release him on bail with charges. He was ordered not to approach the park where the events occurred within a distance of 50 meters.
