The Esbart Cadí dance group in Bagà presented this Sunday the program of events to celebrate its 75 years of history, highlighting the debut of eight new giants and a major musical show in Porxada Square in July.

The Esbart Cadí is one of the most deeply rooted organizations in the town of Bagà, created on the initiative of the teacher couple Joan Pardinilla and Maria Guiu and officially presented during the Festa Major in 1951. Over the years, several generations have contributed to keeping the group in top form. The proposals to commemorate the anniversary were announced this Sunday at the Casal de la Vila.

"Since the cursed pandemic, 'esbarts' have seen a decline in the number of dancers, but thanks to the effort, enthusiasm, and desire to do things well, the quality has been maintained. Let us ensure that those committed to the conservation and diffusion of traditional dance look forward and see the Esbart Cadí becoming one of the centenary entities of our country."

Antoni Rosell · President of Esbart Cadí
One of the major novelties will arrive for the Festa de l’Arròs (Rice Festival) in February, with the debut of eight papier-mâché 'nans' (giants) representing pairs of Catalan, Valencian, Mallorcan, and Aragonese dancers, who will dance to the music of the Ball de Nans de Reus. Summer will be the culmination of the celebration with the Festa Major de Terradelles and, especially, with an unforgettable musical show in July at Porxada Square, featuring arrangements by composer Eduard Iniesta.

"The entity is doing immense work, and the City Council thanks them wholeheartedly."

Lluís Casas · Mayor of Bagà
The program also includes the spring dance in April, children's camps and a brotherhood lunch at the Santuari de Paller in May, a popular walk in September, and participation in the Festes de la Baronia in October. The commemoration will conclude with a tribute dinner in November.
Taking advantage of the anniversary, the entity has launched a new logo, designed by Adrià Macià, which uses mustard yellow as the main color, referencing the traditional costumes. A new website will also be launched to “organize our history” and serve as an “ open door” to the large Esbart Cadí family.
