The parade of troupes and floats on Saturday, February 14 will be the central event of the Berga Carnival, which takes place from February 7 to 18. To ensure the procession, expecting over twenty groups, runs smoothly, the organization has implemented a key change: floats must be positioned along the route between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM. Those arriving late will be automatically disqualified.
“"Last year we found that many troupes arrived late and joined the parade, which caused a bottleneck on Roser street, and this resulted in many troupes being stopped on the Sant Fruitós road for almost an hour."
The central theme of this edition will be cinema, featuring plenty of glamour and iconic characters. The queens of the festival will be inspired by the mythical nineties duo, Thelma and Louise. Furthermore, the festivities will kick off on Saturday, February 7 with the promotional video contest for the groups, which has increased its prizes due to the "quality of the videos presented" and the jury's difficulty in awarding a single prize.
The program maintains traditional events such as the descent of contraptions (Baixada d'Andròmines) on Friday, February 13 and the Ball dels Cornuts (Dance of the Cuckolds), where the parade prize verdicts will be announced. On Sunday, February 15, Sant Pere Square will host the Flour War (Guerra de la Farina), which celebrates the 20th anniversary of its recovery, and the Burial of the Sardine will close the festival on Ash Wednesday.
