The project, which includes the construction of an access road to avoid traffic through the town center, has faced budgetary difficulties. During a recent institutional visit to Berga, the Minister of Territory acknowledged that the local government has requested a larger financial contribution from the regional administration to cover the actual cost of the work.
Initial estimates regarding the cost of the road have generated political tensions in the municipal plenary. While the initial proposal from the Generalitat was set at 250,000 euros, subsequent reports have raised the necessary figure to 4 million euros, causing the breakdown of the political consensus that initially existed among the forces represented in the council.
“"We will see if we can contribute a little more and unblock the agreement before the summer."
Currently, the legal services of the Berga City Council are analyzing a new draft agreement. Both the local government and the regional department have set a goal to close the deal before the summer holidays, although the economic viability of the road remains the main obstacle to unblocking the infrastructure.
