The municipal swimming pool in Montclar, a district of Agramunt, opened its doors this Friday after decades of local demands and an investment exceeding 600,000 euros.

After more than 40 years of requests from its residents, Montclar, a decentralized municipal entity of Agramunt, celebrates the inauguration of its swimming pool. The facility, which will open to the public next weekend, represents a milestone for the town's revitalization and involved an investment of over 600,000 euros.
The local mayor, Josep Maria Porta, described the infrastructure as "a dream come true." The inaugural plaque highlights the "will and perseverance of the people of Montclar" as the driving force behind the project, aiming to boost the town and contribute to the territorial balance of the municipality of Agramunt.
The new pool features a basin measuring 16.25 meters in length, 10 meters in width, and a maximum depth of 1.70 meters. The facilities include changing rooms, an accessible bathroom, a technical room for water treatment, a first-aid station, and a space designated for a bar service.
The project, which began to take shape in 2021 when the administrative board of Montclar expressed its intention to the Agramunt City Council, progressed with the acquisition of land the following year and the commencement of works in 2024 once significant funding was secured. The construction cost amounted to 591,523 euros, financed by the Provincial Council of Lleida (194,500 euros), the board of Montclar (50,000 euros), and the Agramunt council with funds from the 2025 budget.
The municipal pool will be open from June 20th to August 31st, with hours from Monday to Friday from 12 PM to 8 PM, and on weekends and holidays from 11 AM to 8 PM. Entrance fees and season tickets will follow the same rates and processing system as the pools in Agramunt, and it will also be integrated into the regional pass for Urgell.
