Mayors across Cerdanya have formally requested the Interior Department to include the county within the Alt Pirineu Emergency Region, explicitly rejecting a proposal to join the Central Catalonia district.

The agreement reached by local leaders will be debated in the next Cerdanya County Council plenary session. This stance mirrors recent decisions by the La Seu d'Urgell Town Council and the Alt Urgell County Council, aiming for a unified mountain-based emergency management system.

Cerdanya is unequivocally a Pyrenean county due to its geographical and climatic characteristics as well as its social and economic structure.

Local representatives argue that the specific reality of the region must be respected under Law 30/2010. They insist that the Alt Pirineu should remain a distinct territorial entity, preventing the county from being managed from Manresa.
