The Cerdanya Regional Council has officially completed the purchase of a 50% stake in the cross-border abattoir located in Ur, concluding an administrative process that lasted sixteen years.

This move grants the regional body ownership of half the land and equipment of this strategic facility. The deal was closed at a negotiated low price, which local authorities believe is essential for the future success of the project in the Pyrenees region.
The facility is located in the municipality of Ur, near Puigcerdà and Llívia, just five kilometers from the border at Bourg-Madame. Negotiations were led by the Council President, Isidre Chia, who highlighted the complexity of reaching an agreement beneficial to both states.

"We continue working to organize and strengthen the Regional Council and to promote projects that provide a future."

While the ownership is now official, the Regional Council noted that significant work remains to fully launch the project. The goal is to transform the site into a real economic opportunity for the local livestock sector.
