This marks a historic milestone for the capital of Cerdanya, as it is the first time the city will host a first-division world tournament. The local ice rink will see the Spanish national team compete against Latvia, Great Britain, Kazakhstan, South Korea, and the Netherlands.
The Puigcerdà City Council confirmed that admission to all matches will be free of charge. The tournament follows a round-robin format to determine which national team earns promotion to Division I Group A.
Over 200 participants, including athletes and staff, are expected to arrive in the region. This collaboration with FEDHielo aims to establish the municipality as a key venue for high-level international sporting events.
