The Montblanc Town Council has approved the Forest Fire Prevention Plan, a strategic document with an investment of 110,481.91 euros to reduce risk within the municipality.

The municipality of Montblanc will have an updated Forest Fire Prevention Plan following its approval at the town council meeting. This strategic document aims to organize and execute the necessary actions to minimize fire risk in an area considered high-risk.
The plan, valid for four years, includes a total investment of 110,481.91 euros (VAT included). Priority actions involve improving water points, repairing and maintaining forest roads, and creating and preserving low-fuel load strips. Infrastructure will also be adapted to facilitate the work of firefighting teams.
A significant part of the plan focuses on protecting the most vulnerable nuclei and areas. Specific actions are planned for Lilla, Rojals, Pinetell, and Prenafeta, including the opening or maintenance of protection strips to limit vegetation continuity and the impact of potential fires.
The document also includes interventions in areas such as the Tossa-l’Estepar ravine, Garró spring, Mas Mateu, La Bartra, Serra de Jordans, and Els Cogullons, as well as improving access to water deposits and points. Complementary measures like signage, wildlife ramps, perimeter fencing, and information signs are also incorporated.
With this approval, the council strengthens its planning and prevention capabilities against forest fires in a municipality where 64.5% of the land, approximately 5,874 hectares, is forest. This landscape, combined with steep slopes and protected natural areas, makes continuous planning essential.
