A vegetation fire declared this Monday in the Rasa de l’Aumella area, in Santa Coloma de Queralt, has mobilized a large emergency response that has already managed to stabilize the fire.

The fire alert was received at 17:48, when flames were affecting agricultural land near a forest area. Bombers initially deployed fifteen ground crews and five aerial units to prevent the fire from spreading to the forest.
The collaboration of agricultural machinery has been key in the extinguishing efforts. Several tractors plowed the fields to create firebreaks. These actions, combined with the efforts of ground crews, have allowed the head of the fire to be anchored in worked fields.
The operation involved 34 ground crews, seven aerial units including planes and helicopters, and about 130 personnel. The contingent of Dutch firefighters currently in Catalunya under the European Civil Protection Mechanism also joined the efforts.
According to provisional data provided by the Agents Rurals, the fire has affected an area of approximately eight hectares. Currently, the flanks of the fire are no longer progressing and the situation is considered favorable, although emergency services are maintaining the extinguishing operation.
