Vedruna School in Santa Coloma de Queralt celebrates 200th anniversary with major festival

The school organizes an open house and traditional activities to commemorate the congregation's bicentenary.

The Vedruna School in Santa Coloma de Queralt will mark a historic milestone this Sunday, March 1st, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Carmelite Sisters of Charity Vedruna congregation.

Festivities begin at 10:30 AM with an information session for families during the school's open house. At 11:00 AM, the main festival kicks off in the courtyard featuring games, music, traditional dances, workshops, and a community barbecue.
Local culture will be highlighted with a parade of giants and devils starting at 12:15 PM. These events are part of the 2026-2027 academic year celebrations marking two centuries of Vedruna Schools in Catalonia.
The school will also join a massive gathering at the Tarraco Arena on February 28th. Locally, students will perform the cantata Kim-A on Friday, March 6th, at 7:00 PM at the Santa Coloma Castle.
