The journalist and entrepreneur, born on August 13, 1965, in Sabadell (Vallès Occidental), is a key figure in the linguistic normalization of Catalan media. Calçada, who also has cultural ties to the Garraf region and Vilanova i la Geltrú, started his career early, being the voice that inaugurated Catalunya Ràdio in 1983 at just 18 years old.
Under the alias Mikimoto, he revolutionized Catalan television with innovative formats such as Oh, Bongònia (1987-1990) and, notably, Persones humanes (1993-1996), a talk show featuring absurd humor that influenced generations of comedians. Later, he created Afers exteriors (2003-2009, resumed in 2016), a sociological format that has interviewed over 500 Catalan emigrants worldwide.
“"Humor is a powerful tool to criticize without offending, and in those years it was key to building a free Catalonia."
His entrepreneurial vision materialized with the co-founding of Grup Flaix alongside Carles Cuní, creating reference radio stations like Flaix FM and Ràdio Flaixbac. Beyond his media work, Calçada has played a significant institutional role, serving as commissioner for the Tricentenari del 1714 and, more recently, appointed to the RTVE board in 2024, nominated by Junts per Catalunya.
