The fires forced the confinement of residents and road closures, with the hypothesis of an origin from angle grinder work in one case.

Two forest and agricultural fires have burned over 52 hectares in Les Garrigues and La Noguera. The fire in Cervià de les Garrigues forced 144 residents into confinement and eight to evacuate, with the hypothesis that it was caused by angle grinder work.

The Agents Rurals are investigating the origin of a fire in Cervià de les Garrigues that burned 46 hectares of forest and agricultural vegetation. The main hypothesis points to mechanical work with an angle grinder as the cause of the fire, which started yesterday afternoon. The flames forced the confinement of 144 residents of Partida de la Devesa and the evacuation of eight due to its proximity to homes.
The fire required the mobilization of 141 firefighters with 45 crews, including aerial resources. Roads LP-7032 and LV-7031 had to be closed. The confinement, which ordered residents to close doors and windows, was lifted around eight in the evening. During the night, a crew remained to check for hot spots.
In parallel, a second fire broke out in Ponts, affecting approximately 6.5 hectares. This fire forced the closure of the C-14 between kilometers 112 and 124. About fifty firefighter crews worked to stabilize it, declaring it under control around eight in the evening, although surveillance continued through the night.
Firefighters also responded to other smaller fires in Cabanabona, Sant Guim de la Plana, on the Camí de Rufea in Lleida, and in Torres de Segre. High temperatures, with maximums reaching 37 degrees, increase the risk of fire, particularly during the harvest season and in the already stressed forest mass.
