The men's reserve team of KH-7 BMG is just one victory away from being crowned champions of Group D of the First State League handball, with their first opportunity this Saturday in the match against Bordils.
The team led by Sergio Pozo will face a decisive match this Saturday on Bordils' court. A victory would not only secure them the league title but also direct access to the promotion playoffs, the main objective they had set for this season.
“
"I am very happy with the season we are having so far. In the first round, we had a slump of about three or four games, but we overcame it and now we are having a great second round."
Pozo highlighted the difficulty of the upcoming match, as Bordils is a direct rival for both the league and the promotion playoffs. According to the coach, a defeat for Bordils could mean losing all their title chances.
With three matchdays remaining in the competition, and only six points at stake, KH-7 BMG leads the standings with 45 points. They maintain a five-point advantage over the second and third-placed teams, La Roca and Bordils, respectively. The coach is confident in his team's victory and in La Roca's win against Banyoles, the second-to-last placed team.
“
"We will only be champions this matchday if we win, because I am convinced that La Roca will win at home against Banyoles, the second-to-last placed team. Win the points as soon as possible to celebrate the championship, you never know."
The reserve team's coaching staff recalls that Bordils is a very demanding opponent. In fact, in the first-round match played at the Palau d'Esports, KH-7 BMG suffered a 26-31 defeat. The team will travel to Bordils with the hope of closing out the league and securing their spot in the promotion playoffs.
