The writer from Cassà de la Selva, Jordi Dausà i Mascort, presents the noir novel El punt de ruptura, being the first title released under the new phase of the publisher Delicte, formerly known as Libres del Delicte.

The publisher Libres del Delicte has completed its transformation, changing its name to Delicte and redesigning its books, aiming for a more solid future in Catalan noir fiction. The author chosen to inaugurate this new image, illustrated by Àlex Santaló, is Jordi Dausà i Mascort, a teacher and translator born in Cassà de la Selva in 1977, known for works such as Lèmmings (Lloret Negre award 2019) and De sobte pensa en mi.
El punt de ruptura delves into Dausà's unique style, which involves pushing everyday situations to their limits. His observational skill results in an intimate dissection of the protagonists. The main character is a teacher in crisis who, overwhelmed by late fatherhood and marital arguments, decides to escape for a few hours in the family camper van seeking peace.
This planned brief escape turns into a complex life adventure, populated by peculiar beings and unexpected complications. One of Dausà's literary virtues is his ability to immerse himself in marginal and unsavory environments, introducing characters who operate on the fringes, ranging from the violent and broken to the lucid and eccentric.
The story, without being a fast-paced action adventure, hooks the reader from the start thanks to a powerful and brilliant command of language. Dausà uses different registers, full of irony and humor, and shows great knowledge of argot and popular expressions. This solid use of language serves a strong social critique, proving that the author is a sharp observer of the many realities surrounding him.

The reader is kept in a state of caution, prevention, and uncertainty at all times, without fully knowing what territory they are treading on.

El punt de ruptura is a succession of “time bombs” that explode constantly, transforming an experience that could be common into a singular and disconcerting internal and external journey. The novel portrays the different points where everything cracks until the definitive rupture, consolidating Jordi Dausà as one of the essential voices in the new Catalan noir narrative.
