Restaurants in Alt Empordà, grouped under the Associació de la Cuina del Vent, have signed an agreement with the Girona Excel·lent seal to ensure the presence of local and zero-kilometer products on their menus 365 days a year.

The agreement aims to go beyond one-off campaigns and establish the year-round use of local ingredients. The Diputació de Girona, through its agri-food quality seal Girona Excel·lent, will collaborate with establishments to facilitate the incorporation of these products.
According to sources from the Diputació, the Girona Excel·lent seal has evolved significantly, now offering producer advice and participating in fairs and markets, including international events. The role of chefs as drivers of local product demand is highlighted, contributing to job creation and the consolidation of family businesses.
The collaboration between producers and restaurateurs has been strengthened, exemplified by the 'recuit de Fonteta' cheese, which has transformed from a little-known product into an ecosystem of derivatives. The Diputació organizes annual meetings to connect producers and restaurateurs, facilitating the design of dishes based on the region's products.
Restaurateurs from Cuina del Vent have acknowledged that Girona Excel·lent has simplified their task of selecting and understanding the best local products. The Diputació is confident that this model will continue and can be replicated by other gastronomic associations in Catalonia.
