The increase in production volume is mainly attributed to the natural alternation of the trees and the absence of extreme weather events that negatively impacted the 2025 campaign. These figures reflect a recovery of productive potential in the Girona area.
By variety, the growth of the Fuji apple stands out, with a 56% increase, followed by the Golden with 50% and the Gala with 35%. These figures exceed the averages recorded over the last five years, consolidating a positive trend in the sector.
On the other hand, varietal innovation continues to gain ground, representing 26% of new plantations carried out in the last two years. Producers in Girona are betting on varieties such as Tutti or Stellar to diversify their offerings.
Despite the good forecasts for apples, the pear sector in Catalonia presents a different scenario, with a forecast of 101,500 tons, 5% less than last year, due to the impact of high temperatures on fruit development.
