The Girona team, currently tenth with 13 wins and 17 losses, seeks to consolidate its position against a direct rival, Manresa, who are twelfth with a 12-18 record. A home victory would be a significant step towards achieving the goal of finishing among the top eleven.
The precedent from the first round, where Girona won 95-97 at Nou Congost with a decisive basket at the buzzer, anticipates another high-tension clash. Coach Moncho Fernández has highlighted the importance of the match for the fight for tenth place, although he stressed that other relevant duels still remain.
“"The game is important for the fight for tenth place, but others will still come."
The team has had little time to physically recover after Saturday's game in Murcia, but the coach has confirmed that he will have the entire squad available, although he will have to make a discard, as happened in the last match.
Fernández praised Manresa, describing them as a team with a lot of personality and an unnegotiable playing style, fast, aggressive, and with perimeter players capable of creating a lot of danger. He also highlighted the rapid adaptation and performance of James Karnik, whose contribution goes beyond statistics.
Additionally, the coach took the opportunity to acknowledge the great work of Spar Girona, who have had an "incredible" season with their qualification for the Final Six, and the U22 team, a new project that has been "basic" for the first team and has achieved promotion.
