From a workshop in Vilamacolum, Catalina Alós and Ana Casas have established Chamusquina, a project of artisanal textile lamps that creates unique atmospheres and has reached international productions.

The Chamusquina project, born over 25 years ago in Barcelona, currently operates from a restored farmhouse in Vilamacolum, where Catalina Alós and Ana Casas design and produce textile lamps that combine craftsmanship and scenographic design. Alós, a painter and restorer, started the project with a friend, experimenting with materials and electricity, from which the brand's name emerged.
The lamps have evolved into lightweight and minimalist pieces, made of linen and cotton, fully foldable and easy to ship worldwide. This feature has been key to their international projection, participating in fairs like Maison&Objet in Paris and receiving commissions from countries such as the United States, France, Holland, Germany, Italy, and Israel.
The relationship with color varies by market: light tones in Nordic countries, vibrant colors in France, and more neutral proposals in Spain. Ana Casas, a dancer with a background in performing arts and textiles, joined the project during the pandemic, bringing new organic and volumetric shapes to the collection.
The flexibility and warmth of the light are distinctive features of Chamusquina, often replacing other light sources. The collection includes models such as Baum, Duende, Muffin, Flor, Bag, Musa, and the most recent Poppy, all with their own unique character.
Chamusquina's pieces have also appeared in the Netflix miniseries Black Rabbit. Despite international reach, the production process remains artisanal in the workshop, with direct customer contact. They plan to move to Vilatenim soon to open a showroom.
